One thing we can agree with Dope frontman Edsel Dope is that trying to find the identity of Static-X’s new frontman, Xer0, does feel like a Scooby-Doo episode. Static-X will be releasing a new album titled “Project Regeneration” on May 29th. Initial live performances with the band also saw Edsel perform as ‘Xer0‘ with his neck covered, perhaps to prevent this very discovery.
More soundtrack work was done by Dope in 2002, as the band recorded WWE chairman Vince McMahon’s theme song “No Chance” for the WWF Forceable Entry audio release. A song from that album, Today is the Day served as the official theme song for WWE’s pay-per-view event No Mercy 2003 in October. This reunion tour had guitarist Virus, drummer Racci Shay, and bassist Acey Slade return for the occasion. However, in his recent interview with Blabbermouth, Edsel technically admitted to being the frontman without fully admitting it. After the album’s release, Simon Dope left the group to pursue a career as a video game producer. In 2015, Dope announced the dates for the “Die Mother Fucker Die” reunion tour, featuring the classic lineup of Edsel Dope, Virus, Acey Slade, and Racci Shay.

He later revealed that Campos had left the band, and eventually joined the metal band Soulfly. The tour in support of the album lasted for the rest of the year, playing major concerts such as the Download Festival and Rock on the Range. The band’s third album, Shadow Zone, was released on October 7, 2003, and debuted at no. 20 on the Billboard 200 charts, but failed to achieve the platinum or gold selling status of their prior two albums.
